This document gives the determination of aggregate crushing value (ACV) of aggregates. This gives a relative measure of the resistance of the aggregate crushing under the gradually applied compressive load. The method is applicable to aggregates passing a 14,0 mm test sieve and retained on a 10,0 mm test sieve.
DetailsRebound Hammer test is a Non-destructive testing method of concrete which provide a convenient and rapid indication of the compressive strength of the concrete. The rebound hammer is also called as Schmidt hammer that consist of a spring controlled mass that slides on a plunger within a tubular housing. The operation of rebound hammer is shown ...
DetailsThe flexural test on concrete can be conducted using either three point load test (ASTM C78) or center point load test (ASTM C293). The configuration of each test is shown in Figure-2 and Figure-3, respectively. Test method described in this article is according to ASTM C78. Fig.2: Three-Point Load Test (ASTM C78)
DetailsSite Testing -Slump Test Always do your slump test before making your cubes to ensure the concrete is usable. If the slump test fails to meet the range limit as dictated by the ritish Standard (shown in the table below) then the load should be rejected. Place the damp slump cone on a flat, hard surface. Fill the cone with the
DetailsFill the cone with the concrete sample in three stages. Once each stage is filled, tamp the mix with the tamping rod 25 times. After the third tamping the excess concrete shall be struck off flush to the top of the cone. Lift the mould carefully upwards, to minimise disturbance of the concrete inside. The concrete will slump.
DetailsApparatus needed for the aggregate crushing value test includes a steel cylinder with a diameter of 15 cm, along with a plunger and base plate. DetailsConcrete cube test Procedure. Firstly, in a clean and dry pan, fine and coarse aggregates is taken by weight. The quantity of material taken should be enough to prepare at least 3 cubes of 150mm in size. It would be better if well-graded aggregates are used. In general, clean and dry aggregate passing 20mm sieve size is used for coarse ...

DetailsThis document describes the procedure for determining the aggregate crushing value (ACV) of aggregate materials. The ACV test involves crushing a sample of aggregate between 9.5mm and 13.2mm under a gradually applied 400kN load. The percentage of material crushed finer than 2.36mm is calculated and reported as the ACV. The test can …
DetailsCrushing tests are universally used for determining the strength of concrete and the standard test measures the crushing strength at an age of 28 days after mixing.

DetailsFor example, Table 9 shows such ambiguity for the selected standards and regulations against the crush parameters such as procedure, crushing speed, SoC, press position, crusher shape and dimensions, and the number of testing samples at the cell, module and pack level. Moreover, further ambiguity needs to be resolved, such as the …

This method is not suitable for testing aggregates with a crushing value higher than 30, and in this case the ten percent fines value is recommended. 7.7.1.3 Method outline. DetailsThe compressive strength of concrete cube test is a measure of the performance and strength of a given concrete mixture. By this single test, one can judge whether concreting has been done properly or not and whether the structure has the required strength as per the specifications. DetailsProcedure for Concrete Slump Cone Test. Clean the internal surface of the mould and apply oil. Place the mould on a smooth horizontal non- porous base plate. Fill the mould with the prepared concrete mix in 4 approximately equal layers. Tamp each layer with 25 strokes of the rounded end of the tamping rod in a uniform manner over the cross ...
DetailsFill the mold in three equal layers by volume, not by height. Rod each layer 25 times with a bullet-tipped 5/8-inch diameter rod to compact each layer. After filling and rodding, raise the cone to allow the concrete to subside. The distance the concrete subsides, or slumps, is based on its consistency.
DetailsIt is preferable to test the cores in moist condition. The ASTM standard prescribes the following procedure: "Submerge the test specimens in lime-saturated water at 23.0 +/- 1.7° C for at least 40 h immediately prior to making the compression test. Test the specimens promptly after removal from water storage.
DetailsProcedure: –. i) The aggregates passing through 12.5mm and retained on 10mm IS Sieve are oven-dried at a temperature of 100 to 110 Degree C for 3 to 4hrs. ii) The cylinder of the apparatus is filled in 3 layers, each layer tamped with 25 strokes of a tamping rod. iii) The weight of aggregates is measured (Weight 'A').
